Using Mobile Phones to Support Patients with Diabetes

Support  IHLH’s researcher, Dr. Scott Lear, in his quest to win a proof-of-concept award from Grand Challenges Canada, an initiative dedicated to supporting bold ideas with big impact in global health.

Dr. Lear is a Pfizer/Heart and Stroke Foundation Chair in Cardiovascular Prevention Research at St. Paul’s Hospital, and a Professor from the Faculty of Health Sciences and the Department of Biomedical Physiology & Kinesiology at Simon Fraser University.

In his video submission to Grand Challenges Canada, Dr. Lear explains how mobile phones can be used to help patients manage their diabetes through education about self-care, treatment, monitoring of symptoms and to link patients with care providers.
