Elaine Yong

Elaine joined the Global BC news team in 2006 as a reporter covering the consumer affairs beat.

Originally from Biggar, Saskatchewan, she spent most of her childhood growing up in Regina. After graduating from Ryerson Polytechnic University in 1995, Elaine worked in a number of newsrooms across the country. Now, she thrives on investigative consumer stories that help Global BC viewers save money, avoid scams and make good consumer decisions. Her work has garnered her several awards and nominations. But her proudest achievement to date is her beautiful daughter Addison. Born seemingly healthy, Addison went into heart failure before three weeks of age. A week later, she had a heart transplant. Now, Elaine and her husband (and fellow Global BC colleague) Aaron McArthur dedicate their spare time to raising awareness about the need for organ donation and supporting BC Children’s Hospital.
