Clinical trial

The recruitment of patients into clinical trials have always been a fundamental part of the scientific and medical discovery process. Many of our affiliated centres and partners here at the IHLH rely on patient participation to help further their research studies. With clinical trials, greater understanding of diseases and new, and often life-saving, treatments for a range of disorders can be achieved. However, Canada’s participation in global clinical trials is declining, and the lack of patient engagement in the clinical trial process has been identified as a priority concern by the Canadian Institute for Health Research Strategy for Patient-Oriented Research as well as by BC Clinical Research Infrastructure Network (BCCRIN). Click here to read how BCCRIN is addressing the lack of public awareness and enrolment in clinical trials through conducting two porvincial surveys.
